Tires and Wheels
WARNING
Recommended tire pressures are shown on Wheel labels affixed near the valve
stems. These pressures supersede any recommended pressures stated on
the Tires. Higher pressure reduces suspension performance and traction, and
increases risk of loss of control, collisions, and falls. Lower pressure reduces
range and increases risk of damage to the Tire/ Wheel Assembly. Unequal
pressure will cause the Segway SE-3 Patroller to turn in the direction of the
lower pressure tire.
WARNING
Brake discs can become very hot during aggressive use. Let the brake system
cool down before performing any Tire/Wheel maintenance, to avoid the
possibility of burns.
Checking the Tire/Wheel Assembly
To check the Tires and Wheels:
1. Make sure the SE-3 Patroller is unplugged and powered off.
2. Apply the parking brake (p. 24).
3. Check for Wheel wobble by grasping the Tire/Wheel Assembly and
attempting to move it side-to-side (Figure 47). The Tire/Wheel
Assembly should not move laterally.
4. If you detect Wheel wobble, check the Wheel nuts and tighten if
necessary using the supplied wheel nut key. Torque the wheel nuts
to 55N-m(40ft-lbf).
